About Properties in Carolina

We know real estate – the properties, the communities, the lifestyle...the ropes!

The Properties
Our office is located in King, the Gateway of the North Carolina Foothills. From there we extend our services for buyers and sellers into all the surrounding counties of the Piedmont including Forsyth, Stokes, Surry, Yadkin, Davie, Davidson and Guilford.  We provide our buyers with access to properties online with immediate notifications and our seller’s properties the latest in marketing technologies.

The Communities
Anyone can find Greensboro, High Point or Winston-Salem on a map, but we represent clients in the smaller communities too such as Siloam, Shoals, Hamptonville, Walnut Cove, Westfield, Pfafftown and MORE! We understand the unique characteristics of rural properties versus urban properties.

The Lifestyle
We understand it’s all about lifestyles and not just selling houses. Our area offers a variety of activities and amenities – whether you are an outdoorsmen or a homebody, a mall shopper or on-line shopper. We are your neighbors so we help our clients understand the difference of living in town versus the suburbs or the rural areas.

The Ropes
At Properties in Carolina, we work as a team with a focus on our clients and customers.  We are familiar with different loan types, basic guidelines and can suggest the best type of financing based on the property and the client’s financial situation.  Whether you are a first-time buyer, a seasoned seller or an investor – our experienced team of agents bring the knowledge and experience to help guide you through the ever-changing process of buying or selling real estate.

Stephanie Barnes

Stephanie is a Guilford County native and grew up living in High Point and Summerfield. She has always been a "country girl with a city life!" Her parents provided her with an enriched childhood and raised her with true "Southern morals and values". Her father is the Former High Sheriff of Guilford County, Sheriff BJ Barnes from Summerfield (hence her “country girl” personality) and her mom moved to Randleman, NC after retiring from North State Telephone Company in High Point.

Stephanie has a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Health and Minor in Pre-Dentistry and a 4 year degree in Dental School. After careful consideration she felt her young children needed her more so she then went into the Dental Business Management field managing multiple offices across the Triad area.

In 2014 after an injury took her away from her dental management career, she started her real estate career. Stephanie is an over-achiever and has a strong management background that she brings to her real estate career. She is ethical, hardworking and committed to working tirelessly for her buyers and sellers. Her favorite part of real estate is seeing buyers happy when they find their new home! She makes her clients a top priority and they can trust her to help accomplish their buying or selling goals! Each transaction is always handled with her friendly "Southern Hospitality" manner and if you’re lucky - her Grandmother’s Sweet Ice Tea!

Stephanie joined Properties in Carolina in 2015 after leaving a larger corporate real estate firm. She feels a smaller firm allows her to focus on her clients and still have time for her family. Her primary service area is Guilford County, Summerfield, Oak Ridge and parts of Winston Salem, Forsyth County. Stephanie real estate focuses are in both residential buyers and sellers, and commercial real estate buying, selling, and leasing.

When I want the freshest seafood I don’t go to the grocery store. I go to Captain Larry along the Carolina coast. When I want fresh flowers I don’t go to the nearest grocery store, I go to the local florist. When you need to buy or sell your home or land come to someone who knows the area and the local and surrounding real estate market.

I have lived in Stokes county since 1976, attended 12 years of school in Stokes County school system and went to college in Surry County. I raised all three of my children in Stokes County. My children are now grown and married and we have given us six amazing grandchildren.

While raising my children, I coached soccer, baseball, softball,  served as a member of the Stokes County Parks and Recreations Board of directors, was a member of the Stokes County Jaycee’s and served on the Little League Board.  My volunteer work and career paths has taught me how to work with different personalities, to manage and organize, and achieve the best outcome possible. The community of King, and the county of Stokes is my home, and helping folks and giving back has always been my passion.

My career as a REALTOR began in 2008, after being a full time nurse for over 16 years.  I  am married to Will Carter,  also a real estate broker who has lived in Stokes County his entire life. We currently own and operate Stokes County’s only licensed dog boarding kennel in addition to our real estate careers. We also own rental properties which give me a unique perspective of the pros and cons of real estate investing and operating a business.

When you’re ready to buy or sell real estate call me. I know how to navigate the market and will help make it enjoyable.
